First, they have Habaneros! Last, it's all that mattered as this place exceeded my expectations. It's an unknown territory for me..GPS led me here and it's a great find. The House Margarita took me back to Tejas. Down South it's hard to miss finding a good Tex-Mex restaurant. This place, in my opinion, satisfies the taste buds and would hold its own in any market! I ordered their famous spicy burrito, Margarita, and leche cake. The staff made it a classy joint and their spot on follow-up from management was appreciated! Wifi! And hot hot hot hot food...... :)

A friend introduced me to this place and I have been impressed it has a very nice atmosphere with big screen TVs around the room showing sports. I had their 10 taco special dinner and it was very good. although I thought the guacamole was kind of expensive other than that the place was very good. I would definitely recommend it to others

As my mother would say, "Good gunga munga!" I love this place and everything I've ever had here. I would walk 10 miles just to get a cup of the salsa- the perfect combination of heat, salt, cilantro, and flavor from the tomatoes. All of the dishes I've had are awesome, but I'm particular to the burrito suizo. There are some definite Mexican favorites and they even serve breakfast. They will also cater to vegetarians, although be prepared for some strange looks when you tell then you don't want their delicious steak. Their mixed drinks, margaritas, and pina coladas are also quite good. Be careful of the BIG margarita- I had it last time and could barely walk straight, even though my stomach was full of delicious Mexican food. So moral of the story: if you're in the south suburbs and looking for a chill place to go with excellent food, good service and prices, and maybe a place to get a bit silly-drunk, Don Pedro is where to go.

We have dined here once a month and the food has always been excellent. The fish tacos, the chicken mole, the beans and rice... it was really good until the last visit otherwise it would have been 4 stars. But I am writing this review to warn people that there have been many changes to what we know as "Don Pedro" on Torrence. Upon entering, there was a sign on the second door stating that "small changes are taking place so please be patient with us." My girlfriend and I ordered our favorites dishes, the Don Pedro special pork entree (can't remember the exact name, it's in a spicy red sauce), and I ordered the chicken mole. Everything was different. The mole appeared to have red oil droplets in it, it wasn't black, it was more of a brown sauce. The chicken was now 2 small pieces of boiled bone-in chicken with the skin intact. It was very disgusting to pull apart (came apart easily because of being boiled) and it was nearly inedible and I even got some bone fragments in the pieces I attempted to eat. The chicken was flavorless as it seems to just have been boiled in water with no seasonings or spices. It was disgusting boiled chicken bone-in with skin, cartilage and some meat. The mole sauce had no flavor at all, no hint of chocolate or spices... it was inedible, I didn't even use my tortillas to dip in the sauce as I have at many previous visits. The beans tasted weird, and had little black specs in the re-fried beans. The rice was inedble - it had no flavor and was chewy. My girlfriend's pork dish had the same issues with the beans and rice. Her pork was different - there was a lot of fat in the pork that had to be separated. The sauce was completely different and she stated that this was not the same dish she has ordered many times previously. From appearance to cut of meat to flavor - it was like we were in a totally different restaurant - a really really BAD restaurant. She addressed our of the issues with both dishes, as I took a few bites off of mine and pretty much it was money up in smoke as it was so disgusting I lost my appetite. The server responded that there is a new cook, a new distributor, and they are changing the recipes and the sources of their food. It's not Don Pedro anymore to me. They might as well change the sign to a different name, and I expect this restaurant to be out of business in 6 months. Oh - and the couple in the booth next to us also barely touched their food and left. So it just wasn't us. And... if you order anything DIET cola, make sure that's what you get by observing the person getting it. A diet cola was ordered and we watched the person pour a regular cola and then brought it to the table. Called him out on it and sent it back and watched them pour a diet cola.

Went on saturday and the place was not crowded but the service was horrible. The food was bad at best costly and the waiter never asked if we waned refills on our drinks. We ordered guacamole and it was tasteless. Never again

This is the place I usually go to when I'm craving mexican during lunchtime. The lunch specials are priced starting at $7.95 and they have an extensive menu. The salsa and chips are very delicious. After ordering your food, they waiter/ waitress brings out a chicken soup (which is extremely good). I am still trying to figure out what they put in it to try to duplicate it at home. I usually get either the steak/ chicken enchilada suiza or the steak tacos. Both are very good. The other people who have gone with me order other items off the lunch menu and they seem to be pleased with the dish when it comes out. The food is served very fast and smells very good. The only thing that I could say for them to improve on is getting the check. Sometimes it seems like I'm sitting there forever before I get the check and it takes another while to get the check rung up. Other than that, the food is very good, fast, and the people are very friendly.

Great place for lunch. Our lunch crew comes here often. They have good lunch specials under $10. The fajitas, chile rellenos, and enchiladas area really good. A big plus is the complimentary soup and unlimited chips and homemade salsa.

The first thing I am going to tell you is the complimentar soup taste like a first class soup. I was not expecting such flavor in a complimentar item, so don't pass on the soup. Secondl I ordered the Fajita Plate Salad, Rice, Beans, Guacamole $10.59, this was quite possibly the best $11.00 I've spent on food in a while. We had our monthly boo club discussion here. The food was served at a wonderful temperature and my steak was de-li-cious, at first I thought well maybe its because its been a while since I had red meat but that wasn't the case. It was the seasoning and style of cooking. I;m not much of a hard drinker but I so enjoy beer, so I noticed on the menu they had a margarita which was topped with Cervaza, and I had to taste it, MAN OH MAN OUTSTANDING!!!! I had a cute buzz going after drinking that bad boy..... Our book of the month discussion was the 2nd Saturday of April, I was telling my partner about the place and we are going this weekend...Yummy

II agree with just about everything that has been said in praise of this place, but no one has mentioned my favorite dish-lomo de res en chile de arbol. Some like it hot. This is fiery love!

I'm not sure that change is always good. I have been a loyal Don Pedro's customer for as long as I can remember, but the recent changes have me a little concerned that my go to Mexican joint won't be my go to Mexican joint for much longer. It seems that there is an attempt to dumb down the food in an attempt to widen their customer base.............which I understand from a business perspective but, as a loyal customer I am disappointed that the "hot" chilaquiles are no longer hot nor crunchy, it's become more of an unappetizing watery tortilla mash. The hot lomo en chile de arbol that I would have given my right arm for has become all but a distant memory to me as the heat, portion size and taste has all been tampered with to the point that I don't crave it like I once had. While I do appreciate the widening of their beer selection it does nothing to attract me to Don Pedro's as it has always been about the food for my family and I.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
